Summary

The Senior/Director of Product Development and UI collaborates with various groups within the organization, helping them sculpt ideas and initiatives into living digital media, mobile and connected devices products that increase engagement and create additional revenue opportunities.   This individual is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product business requirements, designing and securing the design for best practice user interface and usability and ensuring development efforts follow a consistent product vision, satisfying the league’s overall strategy and goals.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

–       Coordinate and collaborate with department heads to understand business goals and initiatives, then determining which can be realistically translated in products that will maximize ROI

–       Manage the ongoing development priorities and implementation of the web, connected device and mobile interface strategy.

–       Analyze overall interface usability, identifying and recommending changes to enhance the overall user experience.

–       Prioritize initiatives in conjunction with other product managers to ensure the most effective use of application development resources

–       Recommend and manage implementation of new and innovative ideas in products, functions and applications to serve customer needs and maintain competitive market leadership.

–       Lead and develop service enhancements to optimize short and long range business performance

–       Generate and maintain multi-year global strategic solution roadmap, documenting strategies, utilization of resources, impact on business results

–       Prepare detailed Functional Design documents which include flows, wireframes, business logic and success measures

–       Work with project management group to prepare Technical Specifications documents and developing prototypes

–       Work with external third parties to assess and improve partnerships, maximizing opportunities

–       Ability to act as a leader in the company

 

Qualifications

 

–       Intimate knowledge of professional hockey and fan demographics

–       Intimate knowledge of digital media product development, including:

web, mobile, video, and social media

–       Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products

–       Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

–       Technical background, with experience in consumer facing & digital media application

–       Working knowledge of the creative and content processes for website and mobile application development

–       An in-depth knowledge of email, mobile and social media, and website design and development, particularly in the areas of creative/UI design, content strategy and content creation

–       Strong written and oral communications skills; fluency in written and conversational English

–       Outstanding interpersonal skills and influencing skills at all levels in the organization

–       Ability to build relationships and work effectively at all levels of the organization and to interact confidently with senior management

–       Ability to direct and manage outside partners

–       Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a variety of projects concurrently, especially in a demanding environment, under tight deadlines

–       Strategic, problem-solving, and project planning skills essential, external alliance-building skills preferred

–       High energy and enthusiasm

–       Knowledge and experience in HTML, Photoshop and other design/UI development tools a plus

 

Education and/or Experience

–       Minimum of 7 years experience as a Product Manager and/or UI specialist

–       Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred)
