Overview
=
A
Director, UX leads and ensures adherence to a best practices,
human-centered approach to UX design at Method. With the VP, UX, the
Director, UX will define and promulgate industry-leading practices for
all aspects of Method's UX practice. A Director, UX, will ensure that
those principles are carried out in Method work, by developing
appropriate work plans during the business development process, by
modeling those practices in project work, and by overseeing and
mentoring other UX designers, ensuring quality deliverables and helping
junior designers understand and model Method practices.
Responsibilities include:
o Leading initiative=
s for developing and refining UX best practices and processes.
o &nb=
sp;
Working with the VP, UX and other Method personnel to develop
effective, collaborative processes for delivering strategic and
innovative solutions to business problems and client needs.
o During the business development process, working with c=
lient
services personnel and other discipline leads to create project plans
that support best practices and deliver against the client's goals. o
Executing, and lead other UX designers in executing, quality
deliverables for all aspects of UX work, including user research and
analysis, requirements definition, conceptual design, content planning,
interaction planning, interaction specification, and quality assurance.
Creating project deliverables that clearly and persuasively communicate
the UX strategy and the reasoning behind it.
o Mentoring UX designers and Senior UX Designers in devel=
oping their
UX skills and, with the VP, UX assisting them in growth along a planned
career path.
o Participating in recruiting and screeni=
ng potential members of the UX staff.
o Creating user experiences that can be mapped directly t=
o the business and user requirements of the project.
o =
Representing the user experience requirements of the project to other team m=
embers and to the client.
o Working collaboratively with project teams to develop u=
ser
experience approaches that take into account requirements and feedback
of other team members. Also, providing appropriate feedback to team
members to ensure that user experience requirements are met.
o Staying abreast of industry best practices for UX desig=
n and
processes, and for any project, gathering sufficient information to
support appropriate UX design for the given platform and technology.&=
nbsp;
Skills/Qualifications include:
o 8+ years experience in UX consulting, spanning mult=
iple industry verticals and at least two of the following mediums:
=95&nb=
sp; Large scale consumer or B2B websites
=95  =
; Interactive web applications
=95 Desktop Software
=95 Mobile
=95 10' UI
=95&nbs=
p; Product interface design
o Proven experi=
ence leading UX teams
o An understanding of how to impl=
ement design thinking to influence business outcomes.
o
Abilty to plan, carry out, and analyze user research (ethnography,
workshops, interviews, usability sessions, etc.) effectively to define
user needs, attitudes, and expectations.
o BA or MA in Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, or H=
CI, or related experience
o
Effective communication skills (both in conversation and in writing),
especially focused on running workshops and presenting and defending UX
designs and decisions
o Ability to work with technology experts to uncover and =
understand
technology requirements and capabilities as they relate to user
experience.
o Fluency with standard UX design tools, s=
uch as Adobe CS3, Visio, OmniGraffle, Office, etc.
