Online Organizing interns
support outreach staff with the online out=
reach connecting WITNESS's work to other organizations and specific audi=
ences to raise WITNESS' online presence on social networking sites and o=
ther online properties. There is a great deal of collaborative work with oth=
er departments within WITNESS. You will have the opportunity to build expert=
ise in cutting edge online organizing strategies and tactics.

Duties include:

Use online tools like Facebook, MySpace, You Tub=
e, Flickr, and blogs to
promote and publicize priority WITNESS campaigns.=

Recruit and engage online and on-the-ground activists in key regions=
.

Design web graphics, html templates, update web pages, and distribute v=
ideo.

All interns are expected to spend between 20-30% of their time =
engaged in administrative support to outreach staff and other staff as neede=
d.

Potential interns are preferably graduate students or others with relev=
ant experience. Undergraduates with relevant study experience will be consid=
ered. We look for a focus in studies on communications, human rights, intern=
ational relations, political science, and interdisciplinary studies. Because=
this internship is so focused in online work knowledge of HTML, basic Photo=
shop, and a basic knowledge video editing software is also required.

Candidates should have:

A passion and strong knowledge of creati=
ng/updating profiles and content on social networking sites including blogs,=
facebook, myspace, Flickr, YouTube and other online properties.

HTML, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

Excellent written and verbal commun=
ications skills

Strong online research skills

Competency with =
excel and web metrics.

Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced envir=
onment

Intellectual curiosity and creativity

Analytical and problem sol=
ving skills

Independent and self-motivated

A sense of adventur=
e

This is an opportunity to bring your online skills to a dynamic and=
visionary organization where you will develop your online portfolio. We req=
uire a minimum of three months commitment, for at least 15-18 hours a week. =
Positions are based in our Fort Greene, Brooklyn office. Internships are unp=
aid. The start date is in late August or early September and applications wi=
ll be accepted until the position is filled. Days and hours are flexible.
