WSJ.com is seeking a thoughtful, experienced designer/visual journalist to join the Interactive Graphics group. Daily tasks would include user-interface design, building static and interactive charts, designing complex data presentations, and collaborating with editors and other designers on rich, web-based media experiences. Ideal candidates would be at their best under heavy deadline pressure. This person should be ready to be the visual lead, be able to manage their time to tackle several projects at once, and do some production work when called upon. This person would be working in a multi-platform environment where work would be expected to be used in serveral different channels. Candidates should be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator (especially charting capabilites), html, css, and flash and have some proficiency in javascript. Journalism background is a must. Newsroom experience, a big plus.
