The Department of Visualization at Texas A&M University has a faculty position open for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of interactive media. Candidates must demonstrate experience in collaborative efforts that cross disciplinary lines. A graduate degree (i.e. MA, MS) in the field of game design & development, mobile media, interactive graphics, interactive art, multimedia or simulation or a closely aligned field is required. A terminal degree (i.e., MFA, PhD) is preferred.
Responsibilities include research and/or creative work, teaching and advising at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the department, university,and the field. In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses in game design and development.
The Department of Visualization is built around advancing the art, science and technology of visualization. Academic programs within the department include the M.S. in Visualization and B.S. in Visualization, totaling approximately 250 students. The mission of the 16 member faculty is to engage in and support innovation in teaching, research, and creative works across a wide range of areas where computing can be used to create visual experiences. The academic programs and the faculty comprise one of the few institutions in the world where both the science and the art of visualization are pursued as an indivisible endeavor.
The reputation of our graduates as skilled technical and visual problem solvers has led to the Department of Visualization boasting strong ties to the animation, visual effects, and game industries.
