Information Architect

Freelancers Union is seeking a talented Information Architect to keep our website(s) fresh, interesting, and user-centered. The ideal candidate will be more than just a talented website content strategist who can present data in an effective way, but also someone with a mastery of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML and a passion for incredible user experiences. We are looking for a candidate with a voracious appetite for web communication technology, blogs, syndication methods, web media, and an interest in exploring new tools and strategies to engage users.

Responsibilities include:

  • Researching and gathering information on the latest in content, user interface, and web trends
  • Presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership/decision-makers
  • Ensuring the site evokes a consistent tone and message
  • Providing creative solutions for member communications
  • Taking ownership of activities and seeing them through to completion
  • Managing content using CMS and HTML
  • Serving as the principal liaison between the Communications Department and the IT Department to ensure that web content and design is in line with technological considerations and back-end development

Successful candidates will have the following experience and skills:

  • Wireframing
  • JavaScript (jQuery, MooTools)
  • CSS (LESS, YUI)
  • Speaking the language of code and design
  • Working with code revisioning
  • Working on a site serving tens of thousands of monthly users
  • Social media tools design
  • Experience with user testing and analyzing traffic
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in customer-oriented web design, web development, and user experience

The candidate will work in the Marketing and Communications Department, but will work closely with the IT Department.
