The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, clinicians, designers and marketing team members to develop sophisticated, easy to use embedded interfaces for medical equipment. They must understand the limitations of designing for embedded hardware systems and relish the challenge that it requires.
Research
Strong interest and experience in conducting observational field research, interviews and usability testing with clinicians and users of medical equipment.
* Develop testing protocol and moderate testing process
* Conduct field visits in medical and hospital environments
* Analyze findings and present recommended course of action
* Assist in developing prototypes for use in research testing by providing wireframes, flow diagrams, screen layouts and images
Design
Requires strong conceptual, logical and strategic thinking.
* Good visual sense of style that is appropriate for the medical equipment market
* Continue the evolution of the established in-house UI style and apply it to multiple product lines including patient monitors, ultrasound equipment, and other medical devices
* Develop concepts based on research findings using flow charts, wireframes, storyboards, static and interactive mockups and prototypes
* Produce detailed specifications of user interface elements for global software development teams
Review software code builds and work through issues to maintain design intent while overcoming development obstacles
Skills and Requirements
* 4+ years of industry experience in human-computer interaction, industrial design or related field, preferably in user interface design of consumer electronics
* Demonstrated experience using designing embedded software
* Extremely proficient in creating and prototyping user interface designs using popular visual interaction design tools, primarily; Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash
* Experience planning and executing visual design work in accordance with accepted product development processes, for example, phases and gates
* Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and teamwork skills
* Knowledge of web technologies, .net, WPF and mobile platform applications are desired but not necessary
* Experience with medical equipment is preferred but not required
* Passion for professional discovery, growth, and leadership
