CAMPUS JOB: Music Department Professor Looking for Creative Website Designer

Music Department Professor Looking for Creative Website Designer

In the spring 2012 I will teaching an upper division undergraduate seminar entitled “Noise in the Global City.” In a nutshell, the seminar will take account of topics such as noise pollution and noise abatement campaigns in the New York metropolitan region. The seminar will make heavy use of what I hope will be an innovative website.

I am looking for a creative website designer who has solid flash programming abilities and some experience with audio editing. You should also be someone who feels comfortable experimenting with novel designs and interfaces. Familiarity with anthropology or ethnomusicology would be a plus.

The site will be the centerpiece of the spring 2012 course and, subsequently, I hope, it will become a platform for collaboration across NYU’s global sites. If the development of the site goes as planned, it would be a significant part of digital media portfolio for the person who ends up doing the design.

The pay is $20/hour and the total number of hours will be around 200 with approximately 10 hours/week during fall 2011 and 5 hours/week during spring 2012.

I need someone who is dependable and ready to commit for the duration of the 2011-2012 academic year (early September 2011—early May 2012). Hours will need to be put in pretty much every week of the fall and
spring semesters. If you are not able to make a year-long commitment, I’m sorry, but this job would not be for you.

This is not a workstudy position so any student can apply.
