JOB: Standard Chartered Studios, creative app designer, in CA

Standard Chartered Studios, the mobile innovation arm of Standard
Chartered Bank, is seeking a talented and creative
app-designer-in-residence for immediate hire at its SoMa location.

The role of the app-designer-in-residence will be to conceptualize and
mock up radically innovative ideas for new mobile applications within
the bank.  On a weekly basis, the designer will develop a new
application concept for the iPad or iPhone platform, showcasing an
interface technology of interest or a novel application domain. During
the week, the designer will reduce the concept to a series of mockup
screenshots or slideware suitable for sending to a software
development team to convert into interactive applications. No
programming skills are expected or required; however, good visual
design and mockup skills are necessary in either Powerpoint,
Illustrator, Photoshop, or their equivalents.

The designer in residence will enjoy strong creative control and
autonomy and have access to an overseas development team. The designer
must be able to operate with limited supervision and independently
from existing projects within the studios.

The right candidate will have an enthusiasm for innovative design and
ideas and share an excitement for the potential of iPhone and iPad
development. Experience in banking, the financial sector, and
corporate environments are unimportant – SC studios is especially
interested in fresh ideas from outsiders.

Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience.  The designer in
residence role is a contracted position and cyclical, so the role is
expected to suit part-time candidates at 40-60 percent time for 2-8
months, but for the right candidate this role can be expanded to a 100
percent time after a brief evaluation period.

Standard Chartered Studios develops mobile applications used by
thousands of employees at every level of the bank, from the board of
directors, to tellers, and hundreds of thousands of customers.

This is a perfect opportunity for a young creative or recent graduate
looking to rapidly build a portfolio and potentially come up with the
next killer application for the corporate mobile world.

Interested applicants should contact Todd Schofield,
