About the Position

The Integrated Digital Media program at Polytechnic Institute of NYU invites applications for the position of Instructor, Integrated Digital Media. The Integrated Digital Media program is based in NYU Poly’s Department of Technology, Culture and Society. The program offers Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Integrated Digital Media. At every level, the program’s orientation involves the integration of education and research, and emphasizes the direct engagement of faculty and students with the critical and social dimensions and contexts of their work. The Department of Technology, Culture, and Society also offers degree programs in Sustainable Urban Environments and in Science and Technology Studies, within a research-oriented school of applied sciences that includes computer science, computer engineering, electrical, civil and mechanical engineering. NYU-Poly is based in the broader framework of New York University.

Responsibilities

The instructor will be responsible for developing students’ skills and knowledge consistent with the goals of the program and with effectively using materials and equipment to meet goals. The program seeks candidates whose work crosses over between art and research modes of experimental work, in applications of real-time interactive graphics. The successful candidate will participate directly in ongoing development of the academic programs, and in Integrated Digital media creative and research initiatives. The instructor will utilize a variety of effective and professional teaching techniques and methods which assist students in attaining the performance objectives of the course; annually prepare and submit a course of study including course objectives, student performance objectives, and lesson plans.

Experience Requirements

Experience and recognition at the professional/research level, as well as a relevant terminal degree. Knowledge of effective instructional methods and techniques which are used in assisting persons to gain the skills needed for entry level positions in digital media fields; specific skills, knowledge and attitudes needed for achieving employment in this field; knowledge of employment trends in digital media.
