We are currently accepting applications for a Creative Technologist. The successful candidate will be joining a world-class team of industry researchers with a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds including social scientists, design researchers, interaction designers, human factors engineers, strategic planners, and technology innovators.
The qualified candidate will work on several ambitious technology research initiatives underway at Intel, translating research concepts and strategic directives into functioning software and hardware prototypes, and developing his/her own research projects and agenda. Essential qualities for success in this role include: insatiable curiosity, a drive to stay on top of the latest technologies and tools, a compulsion to make/hack/build/create, exceptional dedication, communication and interpersonal skills.
If you are passionate about making ideas tangible, have a strong creative background and are comfortable sketching with technology, have an appreciation for user-centeredness in the design process, and find creative inspiration in the constraints imposed by real-world business demands. This is a full-time position, and salaries are competitive and will be commensurate with experience. We are a team that believes we achieve our best results when we work together, so candidates must be willing to relocate to either the Portland, Oregon or Santa Clara, California area for this position.
Job responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
— Leading collaborative synthesis of research data; translating consumer research and strategic directives into technologically embodied (software and hardware) prototypes
— Creating and rapidly iterating on interaction/interface schemes using front-end design prototyping tools (e.g., Flash)
— Designing/building and directing the design of conceptual and working experience prototypes
for early demonstration and evaluation of proposed interaction/UI solutions through user studies
— Fostering an environment on cross-disciplinary teams of tinkering, creative exploration, flexible/design thinking
— Leading the development of user experience strategy, positioning projects within a clearly articulated context of Intel’s business, industry/ecosystem developments, and emerging consumer behaviors
— Developing strategies for communication of project results to internal and external stakeholders; presenting design concepts to audiences with a wide variety of (mostly technical) backgrounds
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the following:

Qualifications
THIS POSITION IS OPEN ONLY TO EMPLOYEES OUTSIDE THE INTEL MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS (IMC) ORGANIZATION.
Minimum Requirements:
— Bachelors degree, master’s degree, or PhD in computer science (software engineering), digital media, design or a related discipline
— 3 years professional practice in digital design/build-ing
— 3 years experience with successful project planning and management
Preferred Requirements:
— Deep familiarity with software prototyping tools/environments (e.g., Flash, Silverlight, Azure, Illustrator, PhotoShop, After Effects)
— Demonstrated knowledge of / fluency in (X)HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
— App development experience on multiple device platforms (e.g., for iOS, Android, etc.)
— Experience with, and interest in, open source hardware prototyping (e.g., Arduino)
— Significant academic work and/or professional experience in a secondary discipline (design-related, social/behavioral sciences, computer sciences, business, etc.) is a strong advantage
