Overview:

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. is looking for a Digital Strategic Analyst. This role requires a unique blend of real-world experience and theory, an entrepreneurial approach and boardroom polish.

You will work as a member of Martha Stewarts interdisciplinary teams to create new products,

this means understanding context, developing insight, exploring and defining opportunities, setting strategy, communicating vision, and helping our products go to market. All of this is done in a

human-centric way.

 

As key member of our Strategy team, the Analyst provides critical support across a range of fast-moving, high-complexity digital projects. The Analyst plays a key role in distilling insights from data and synthesizing key findings into a clear, compelling story to inform the business strategy.

 

  1. Insights – The Analyst generates crucial insights by analyzing data from a robust fact base and a range of sources from inside and outside the organization. Representative data types include; consumer trends and behaviors, Internet growth and digital technology adoption, corporate financial data, business results, brand power & positioning, paid media spending, social media conversation trends, site analytics, qualitative consumer findings, heuristic experience evaluations, and in-person interviews.

Deliver: Ongoing performance analyses, Customer Segmentation, Retention Analysis, ROI Modeling, Lifetime Value Analysis and Customer Profiles.

 

  1. Brand and Market Research – The Analyst compiles a robust fact base from a range of sources to generate an ongoing competitive analysis. This analysis is both qualitative and quantitative in nature and is heavily dependant on market and technology trends.

Deliver: Ongoing competitor matrix, Value Curve and Swot, work with Leadership to create positioning Target Audience Plan

 

  1. Business Development – Identify potential partnerships and collaborations. Evaluate individual companies, create great relationships and introduce a process for selecting and working with external entites.

Core Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support strategy engagements by analyzing a robust fact base from multiple data sources covering a broad range of business, marketing, and consumer topics
  • Engage with multiple departments and outside services that compile data and run reports to ensure that the correct data is retrieved
  • Ability to compile data and run reports using multiple tools and sources including web analytics platforms, consumer data aggregators, media spend trackers, quantitative surveys, corporate annual reports, and other secondary research sources
  • Distill and synthesize key business and marketing insights from broader data set via creative data exploration and analysis plus strong business intuition
  • Participate in stakeholder interviews and synthesize key findings
  • Evaluate websites and other digital experiences based on qualitative design/functionality assessments as well as quantitative performance metrics
  • Create clear, compelling content for presentations, POVs, and other deliverables
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues from a range of disciplines including Strategy, Research, Technology, User Experience, Design, and others

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Demonstrated success working in fast-paced, highly collaborative team environments

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Powerpoint and Excel)
  • Exceptional communication & organizational skills
  • Strong aptitude for business and financial analysis
  • Basic background in statistics (especially market research applications) and relational databases
  • Passion for digital technology experiences
  • Deep experience with major social media platforms and technologies
  • Familiarity with web analytics platforms, ad servers, content management systems, and other core digital technologies a strong plus
  • 3 plus years of experience in strategy, account planning, research, or customer analytics environment OR 5 plus years of professional services experience in consulting or strategic planning environment
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA is an asset
