[JOB] Connections Planner

Role Description

Connection Planning combines the disciplines of brand planning, media and creative thinking to approach the client’s communications challenges from an idea-neutral point of view. Connection Planning includes identifying and recommending both paid and non-paid communications strategies, tactics and channels. Connections plans are constructed as journeys based on understanding what people are trying to do, what the brand wants to do, and how people use media. It is grounded in the understanding of the flow of information & content over time, geography and technology – to create meaningful interactions and engagement.

The Connections Planner at SapientNitro will be based in the Media Practice, but will also be required to work on existing and prospective account engagements as a member of Strategic Idea Engineering Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Media Director, developing a vision and assessing the resources needed to build an effective connection planning function at the agency.
  • Re-defining the concept of “media” to include both paid and non-paid channels; both offline and online.
  • Creating and communicating a POV that establishes the standards for connection planning as an agency function.
  • Working with brand strategists to gain an understanding of how, when, and where consumers get information about and come in contact with the client’s brand.
  • Overseeing the assessment, planning, and placement of all forms of paid media, including mass, alternative, addressable, and online.
  • Identifying, creating and deploying the tool kit that will power connections planning analysis
  • 7 + years experience working in a media services agency, ad agency or marketing services consultancy
  • Strong digital experience with familiarity across multiple online platforms including online advertising, search, mobile, social platforms. Traditional media experience also a plus.
  • Familiarity with online marketing analytics measure, terminology & benchmarks related to web site and media-based performance
  • Knowledge with Media Research tools, including MRI, Simmons, Nielsen/NetRatings . Secondary research tools experience (Knowledge Networks, Millward Brown, etc..) also a plus.
  • Creatively driven, with strong track record of strategically-driven idea-generation

Desired  qualifications

  • 7 + years experience working in a media services agency, ad agency or marketing services consultancy
  • Strong digital experience with familiarity across multiple online platforms including online advertising, search, mobile, social platforms. Traditional media experience also a plus.
  • Familiarity with online marketing analytics measure, terminology & benchmarks related to web site and media-based performance
