Viacom Media Networks is looking for strong candidates to fill a project management position on the Nickelodeon Networks Group Digital Project Management team.  The job description is attached; this position as it applies to Nickelodeon involves managing medium to large online projects utilizing traditional as well as agile methodologies.  Successful candidates will be comfortable with both backend technical projects such as data migrations as well as user-facing applications including site redesigns, and possess a track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects in an online environment.

Position Summary: Project Manager Job Description (Brand)

 

The Project Manager has primary responsibility for planning, tracking; managing, and helping to define projects they are assigned.  He/she is responsible identifying key stakeholders and defining the project objectives. He/she is also responsible for ensuring appropriate management, customer and vendor involvement throughout the life of the project

 

The Project Manager is responsible for managing projects according to the MTVN Agile Development Approach.  He/she must be able to take an active leadership role in the team and create an environment that fosters the prescribed agile methods and processes. Finally the   Project Manager must be able to identify issues proactively, resolve conflicts, escalate if necessary, and work across the organization to execute the project.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Understand and follow the MTVN Agile Development Approach for delivering software.
  • Identifying, tracking, and removing impediments to project success.
  • Reviewing project requests and leading the green-light process.
  • Manage Sprint and Release planning.
  • Assuring that all team members understand and accept their roles and responsibilities
  • Work with offshore development teams to tightly integrate them into the Agile workstream.
  • Making sure project resources are applied appropriately
  • Pulling together upfront estimates of time and resource utilization.
  • Facilitating change control and risk mitigation through Agile mechanisms.
  • Analyzing risk and mitigation accordingly, including establishing contingency plans and initiating corrective action.
  • Tracking and reporting key project metrics, including but not limited to: team velocity, weighted defect density, unit test coverage and vendor performance evaluations.
  • Track capital budgets and provide financial reports.
  • Keeping all stakeholders informed of status and issues.
  • Managing relationships with the Product Team.
  • Arbitrating and resolving conflict within the project.
  • Coordinating participation of different tech and product groups in requirements gathering, specifications, design, development and implementation of key projects.
  • Promulgating department-wide project and production management processes.
  • Learn, understand and actively use JIRA and GreenHopper issue tracker software to effectively manage project deliverables.

 

Qualifications and skills of the Project Manager include an ability to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork, an ability to communicate effectively with management, and a clear vision of what determines a successful product for the brands. In addition, the Project Manager must have a technical background sufficient to understand the technologies and technical issues involved with the product, to be able to anticipate and identify critical obstacles.

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience, though more than 5 are preferable.
  • Certified Scrum Master and/or PMP desirable.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable superb written and verbal communications and presentation skills.

 

Experience with:

  • Scrum and other Agile methodologies and software engineering practices, as well as traditional waterfall approaches.
  • Managing Projects involving web site launches, content management systems, data warehousing, streaming media software, systems integration, website analytics or other large technology implementations.
  • Expertise in an online businesses environment.
  • Working with software developers, technical and business management, department heads, product developers and QA teams.
  • Management of vendor relationships and outsourced development projects.
  • JIRA issue management system.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, minimum.
