| Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS) a program of the New York Foundation for the Arts working in collaboration with arts councils and cultural organizations across New York State, is designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of specific opportunities that will significantly benefit their career development. Strategic Opportunity Stipends are administered by NYFA with leadership support from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
Applications should clearly describe the concrete and significant impact the artist’s career will gain from the proposed opportunity in order to be competitive in the panel process. Artists working in all disciplines (including literature, media arts, visual arts, dance, music and theater) may request support ranging from $200 to $1,500. Strategic Opportunity Stipends are for artists living in New York Stateoutside of the five boroughs of New York City.
