TITLE: Free Music Archive Managing Director

SCOPE AND FUNCTION:
Oversees the creation, acquisition, licensing and curation of audio material for The Free Music Archive. Produces editorial content and oversees user-generated editorial aspects of the site. Maintains relationships with software developers, musicians, and curatorial organizations who are active participants in the Free Music Archive.

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the WFMU General Manager; works with the WFMU Music Director to solicit new material for the library; works with the WFMU Assistant General Manager on grant proposals and online fundraising campaigns; works with the WFMU Technology Director to determine web development priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Seeks out and arranges for the acquisition and licensing of audio material from a variety of other sources and collections.
* Performs and oversees data entry of material in Free Music Archive
* Shapes web development priorities in collaboration with WFMU’s Technology Director; oversees the work of freelance web developers and coordinates the efforts of volunteer beta-testers
* Responds to site inquiries including bug reports, legal questions, and music submissions
* Works with WFMU’s Development Director on grant proposals and online fundraising campaigns
* Curate a monthly mix of video-friendly Creative Commons music
* Commission a monthly guest blog post, with accompanying radio segment
* Oversee “Re:Mix Media” educational contest series to revitalize the public domain

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strong understanding of social media, digital archives, music websites and copyright including Creative Commons licenses
* Must be extremely knowledgeable about many types of music, have good writing and organizational skills and have the ability to supervise interns, staff and volunteers.
* Previous experience in public broadcasting, online media, digital archives, product management, community management, and/or the music industry
* Basic HTML and previous online writing experience
* Experience using a CMS to manage data
* Basic digital audio editing skills
