Position Description:

Reporting to the Education Director, this Program Manager is responsible for leading NYC training and events, building new training tools and resources for use online and offline, and helping disseminate innovative practices to our national network. In addition to responsibilities outlined below, the Program Manager serves as a lead representative for our youth programming – engaging youth, educators, and stakeholders during events, trainings, and meetings.

The new MOUSE Program Manager is a key partner in the design and development of MOUSE’s programmatic growth by (1) working to design, develop and implement training and train-the-trainer models that deepen impact for MOUSE programming; (2) collaborating to build learning tools and resources for trainers and sites ; and (3) building the pedagogical impact of site support services.

Key Responsibilities:

Training & Events

MOUSE Program Managers are key collaborators in the continuous improvement of all elements of MOUSE Program Training. In this role, the Program Manager oversees the following discrete tasks:

  • Develop and enhance live training workshops for students and Coordinators, including supplementing and scaffolding current workshops in the certification curriculum
  • Lead implementation logistics of NYC MOUSE Program Training (with support of Training Coordinator), events and related events calendar including locating space; equipment transportation and storage; staffing; hospitality; promotion; registration; designing training activities; conducting training; and events reporting.
  • Manage fulltime Training Coordinator
  • Develop requirements and support the recruiting, hiring, and training of contractual Training Specialists
  • Develop processes for refining Training Specialists’ best practices through workshop observations, professional development opportunities and performance evaluations
  • Lead the development of tools and resources to distribute innovative training practices to MOUSE’s national program network
  • Collaborate to refine and develop MOUSE Squad’s “UnPlugged” Programming
  • Manage budgets related to projects above

Program Operations & Partnership

  • Develop and maintain relationships with program partners in NYC and beyond (NYCDOE, non-profits, etc.)
  • Participate in national educator training and orientation (in-person and online)
  • Manage implementation of evaluation/reporting systems and tools
  • Manage special projects and events such as MicroProjects, MOUSE Squad of the Year, conference logistics, mobile training technologies, program communications, budgeting, etc.

The Program manager will also take on the following support roles where needed:

  • Support Senior Program Manager in implementation of MOUSE Corps Programming
  • Manage special projects and partners related to program grants
  • Key support for annual Coodinator-Con!

Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree (Master’s Degree a plus) plus 3-5 years of related experience.
  • At least 2 years demonstrated experience as an educator (in schools or in non-formal youth programs).
  • Extreme comfort/savvy with computing technology and media.
  • Training experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong self-management skills/ability to work both independently and on a team.
  • Experience managing staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible, high energy and works well under pressure and enjoys a fast-paced environment.
  • Great sense of humor.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Experience working with students, teachers, and school administration.
  • Ability and interest in conducting site visits in NYC and nationally (some travel required).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting youth development or other learning programs.
  • Passion for empowering youth through new technologies.
  • Comfort working in a NYC public school setting. Preferred Skills (One or more of the following is a plus):
  • Experience working with underserved communities
  • Exposure to NYC public schools
  • Event planning and management experience
  • Proven experience thriving in a non-profit environment
  • Experience creating digital media
