[INTERN] Data Visualization Intern at CEMSE

Data Visualization Intern

CEMSE is a Research and Development Center that resides within the
Physical Sciences Division (PSD) of the University of Chicago. CEMSE
(www.cemse.uchicago.edu) continues the University of Chicago’s
long-standing commitment to improving precollege education and aims to
support high quality mathematics and science instruction and learning
for all students. Through the sharing of knowledge and the creation of
useful products and programs, CEMSE seeks to make a positive
difference for mathematics and science instruction throughout the
nation.

CEMSE’s Research and Evaluation team is looking for a data
visualization intern who can assist with the development of engaging
visual representations of the qualitative and quantitative education
data we have collected for an NSF-funded study on STEM schools (more
information on the study). We are looking for someone with a great
visual design sense, a sharp analytic ability, and the right
programming skills to be able to create customized visualizations.

This paid internship will go from July 1, 2012 – September 30, 2012.
The selected intern is not required to re-locate to Chicago for the
summer, and is welcome to work with our team virtually. Payment will
be negotiated as an hourly rate or stipend. Hours per week may range
from 10-20.

If interested, please send a cover letter, resume, a few examples of
your work, and pay rate requirements to cheppner@uchicago.edu, with
the subject of the email being “Data Visualization Internship.”
