A) Job Description Summary
The Digital Media Research Academic Advisor will assist the Director in the administration and coordination of activities in the Integrated Digital Media academic program. S/he will advise students enrolled in IDM courses, and will support IDM faculty and students. The Academic Advisor will implement the course schedule in consultation with the IDM director and others. S/he will also have responsibility for identifying and planning regular events to build bridges to the IDM professional community and to support recruitment of students to the IDM program.
B) Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise Undergraduate and Graduate students for registration and throughout the semester to ensure academic requirements are being met
- Coordinate and schedule courses with IDM faculty, working with other Poly and NYU faculty and staff as needed
- Organize and oversee portfolio review and interviews of applicants for Graduate Selection Committee
- Answer queries from potential students interested in the BS or MS in DM degree
- Identify and plan regular events for IDM with the professional IDM community and with prospective IDM students
- Perform other duties as required by Director of IDM and Department Head of TCS
C) Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Integrated Digital Media or related field
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop, HTML, Microsoft Word
- Strong connections to regional IDM professional community
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
- Must be dependable, proactive, and able to work with a wide range of faculty and staff from across Poly and NYU
- Competence to work independently and problem solve with a high level of attention to detail
- Student-centered attitude
