[JOB] Community Manager, Newsela

We are Newsela, a junta of ed tech thought-leaders upending the digital learning landscape. We create personalized non-fiction literacy solutions for the K-12 market that help students climb the staircase of reading complexity towards success in college and in life. Our first product, Newsela, launched in public beta in June. This summer we completed the Kaplan EdTech Accelerator, powered by TechStars, one of only 10 companies chosen from a field of more than 350. WE WANT YOU to join us in our mission to breed a young generation of super-literate, civic-minded news junkies.

As Community Manager, you will be responsible for developing the best practices of a teacher-led community of users who derive extraordinary value from Newsela. You will support Newsela teachers by providing attentive, data-driven insights on their students’ reading growth. You will amaze teachers with the timeliness, responsiveness and graciousness of your technical and pedagogical support. You appreciate the challenges inherent to classroom teaching and assume best intentions in all interactions with teachers. You will work on a highly collaborative, cross-functional and agile team. You are highly responsive to feedback. You have led or played a major role in the successful development of large-scale user communities from idea phase, through launch, and into sustained support.
