BACK-END DEVELOPER POSITION

Job Purpose Summary: To assist with back-end development of a custom social learning platform built on WordPress.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with programming team to create code for custom WordPress site, including backend development and integration with Google tools
• Develop custom themes
• Assist with website design

Required Skills/Knowledge:
• Experience with custom theme development for WordPress
• Experience building WordPress plugins and templates
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML, and cross-browser layout issues
• JavaScript knowledge, including JQuery
• Experience with collaborative coding
• Experience with version control (ex. Git)
• Familiarity with MySQL or other relational database
• Must be a self-starter and be able to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Familiarity working with deadlines
Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML, and cross-browser layout issues
• Some knowledge integrating Google tools preferred
• Experience with unit testing (ex. PHPUnit), and/or web acceptance testing (ex. Selenium) highly desirable
• Experience building responsive and mobile experiences a plus
• Hands-on experience with agile development practices desirable

Possesses a strong design sense
