Job Description: MCG is seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to develop and maintain a visual style for a variety of print and digital projects. Projects will include research reports, articles, and presentations about families, education, interactive media and play around the world. Researchers and editors at MCG will collaborate with the graphic designer to turn complex information into simple, beautiful stories.
Responsibilities: interpret copy and conceptualize overall design, organize and capture visual assets such as original illustrations and stock photography, execute design, oversee and implement revisions, and deliver final materials on schedule.
This is a project-based freelance position ideal for an independent professional with a flexible schedule. Work may be completed remotely or on-site at our office in SoHo. Fee negotiable, competitive rate.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Degree in Graphic Design, Information Design, Visual Design, Fine Arts, Computer Graphics or a related area
• Expertise in standard presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, Prezi) and Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong layout and typography skills
• Experience with digital photo editing and online stock photography
• Ability to communicate effectively and cooperate with the project team throughout all stages of design and production
• Ability to work independently, quickly and reliably while meeting hard deadlines
• Interest in research, information visualization, and education content a plus
