[GIG / INTERN] Building Online Children’s Network, International Media

We’re building an online children’s TV network with a personalized channel for every kid.  The content comes from the best producers and networks around the whole world, and we’re dubbing everything into English and Spanish.  We’ve built basic UIs and user-video-management tools, and now we’re looking for 1 or 2 tech-geeky people to expand the technology side of the project.

Core technology demands include

  • highly scalable cloud-based video management and delivery,
  • pushing the interactive envelopes of HLS and MPEG-DASH,
  • repurposing recommendations algorithms for programming personalized TV channels, and
  • managing a proprietary user database for programming and other analytics.

We’re also building interactive experiences around the TV-watching core.  These will include social viewing, where you can watch a show with real-time video chat with your friends, and collaborative video mash-up tools.  It would be an advantage if our tech people are also interested in interactive design, but we’ll be more than happy if they’re just into implementing the interactive imaginings of non-tech creative types.

Last but not least, we hope to find someone who can manage relationships with SaaS vendors.

From now through this summer, we can welcome folks on either a part-time or internship basis, depending on their background/experience, interests and schedules.  By autumn, part-time positions should start turning into full-time, with freelance opportunities opening for interns who fit with our team.

In short, we’re interested in meeting whip-smart folks ready to play, build and grow with a disruptive global brand right here in NYC.  The process is pretty informal to start: Anyone who’s interested can just shoot me a letter of interest with a CV.

Best,
Russell Miller
