MakerState is currently accepting Maker Fellow instructor
applications for our 20142015 makerspace workshops. We are
looking for passionate makers who want to share their enthusiasm
and skills to empower young makers with STEAM (science,
technology, engineering, art, math) skills.
About MakerState
MakerState empowers kids ages 518 with science, technology, engineering, arts, and math skills
through makerspaces in robot engineering, fashion/wearable electronics, video game design, paper circuits, 3D prototyping and printing, comic book creation, moviemaking, and more. MakerState hosts its makerspaces in afterschool programs, community workshops, popup makerspaces, summer camps, and birthday celebrations. The Position
Our Maker Fellows are parttime instructors and curriculum developers. Our Fellows work 220 hours or more per week; generally in the after school hours between 2pm6pm, and/or Saturdays. The Maker Fellow is the primary instructor for young makers in our afterschool and community programs which are located throughout the greater New York, San Francisco, New Haven, and New Orleans areas. Fellows deliver MakerState’s awardwinning STEAM mastery curriculum, independently manage makerspaces in their assigned school and/or community space(s), collaborate with their MakerState colleagues, and are encouraged to create new interactive badge/gamebased curriculum themselves. Our Fellows are passionate about maker learning and dedicated to providing transformative learning experiences for the kids they serve. Fellows work with their program coordinator on a weekly basis.
Preferred Experience in one or more of the following:
● Computer programming tools for kids such as Scratch, Blockly, Ardublocks, Game Salad
● Microcontrollers: Arduino, LilyPad, Flora, Rasberry Pi
● LEGO robotics: Mindstorms, WeDo, StoryStarter
● MaKey MaKey & littleBits
● 3D printing: Tinkercad, Blender, SketchUp, Sculptris, Autodesk and 3D printing hardware
● Game design: analog & video games
● Minecraft: Redstone engineers needed!
● Stopmotion movie making & editing: iMovie, Moviemaker, Final Cut, etc.
● Crafting, designing, building, hacking, and making in general
