Job Description:
The Studio of Jim Campbell – is seeking an organized, self-directed individual to assist with the design of custom electronic artworks and large-scale public installations. This position offers the opportunity to work in the field of electronic art with cutting edge technology in video, interactive electronics, & LED displays. The candidate should be comfortable with both mechanical design and fabrication. Prior experience with electronic circuitry is a plus, as is the ability to work with a small production team.
Job responsibilities include:
*Design and fabrication of prototypes and final components
*Researching materials and methods
*Project Coordination, including organization, work flow, quality control, & critical timelines to meet deadlines for multiple projects
*Ability to work with outside institutions, vendors, and contractors
Ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
*Basic prototype fabrication (drill press, bench sander, power tools, etc.)
*Working knowledge of prototyping methods
*CAD/3D design skills (Rhino and AutoCAD)
*2D Design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator)
*3D printing
*Laser cutting
*CNC routing
*Can speak McMaster, etc.
