[GIG] Creative Technologist, Interactive Art Projects

Looking for a creative technologist to work with two artists on interactive projects accessing the GoNightclubbing archive. It is the world’s largest video collection of punk performances in New York from 1975 to 1980 and is housed at the Fales Downtown Collection at Bobst Library (gonightclubbing.com).

One project,  “Party Line” accesses the Interview portion of the archive, using a 1970s phone as a listening device and a video monitor.

Another is “Alone At Last”, a video project that explores gender and sexuality issues of that time. Housed in a peepshow booth environment, the installation invites a single viewer to choose from a series of question on a touch screen, “Are you a boy that likes boys, a girl that likes boys, are you submissive, would you like a foreign affair?” A simple branching program links the participant to the object of her/his desire, who then appears on the screen and attempts to seduce.

They are simple interactive programming projects. But it is the tip of the iceberg! We are designing a series of modules that will present A Modern Punk History. Join us!

Flat fee of $1000 per project. Contact Emily@gonightclubing.com.
