Choate Rosemary Hall, an independent American high school in the Northeast region of the United States, seeks a manager of our innovative i.d.Lab.
Our school: Founded in 1890, we educateselected young people aged 14-18 who currendy come from 40 U.S. states and 45 countries around the world. Most of our students live in dormitories on our 450-acre campus. We have110 full-tiine faculty members, 70% of whomhold advanced degrees and most of whom liveon campus in student residence halls.
Our opportunity: We are currendy seeking aleader for our i.d.Lab, a multidisciplinary makerspace housed in the Lanphier Center forMathematics and Computer Science. The i.d.LabFacilitator will manage the use of the i.d.Lab andpromote the i.d.Lab philosophy throughout ourcampus: Preferred candidates will have:experience with designing and building usingvarious materials; educational and/or workexperience in multiple disciplines and theirapplications; and technical proficiency with CNCmachines, open-source 3D drawing software,microcontrollers and other maker technologies. Teaching experience is preferred, especially inone or more of the following areas: arts,architecture, stagecraft, robotics, engineering, orphysics. Candidates should expect to begin workno later than July 1, 2015.

Duties and Responsibilities
• works with the appropriatedepartment heads to support all classes, students, and teachers that use the space
• coordinates use of the space duringthe academic day, afternoons, andevenings as well as during weekends
• manages the space: ordersmaterials, maintains equipment, setsup and monitors space usage
• serves as a resource for colleagues who want to utilizethe space
• works on his/her own projects and shares them withothers
• teaches courses in the space him/herself
• creates opportunities and programmingthat draw people into the space andextends i.d.Lab thinking across campus
Requirements
• has experience with designing and building in variousmaterials
• understands principles of design thinking
• has good management, organization, and communicationskills
• is comfortable leading professional development ofcolleagues
• has educational and/or work experience in multiple disciplines and theirapplication
• teaching experience preferred,especially in one of the followingareas: arts, architecture, stagecraft,robotics, engineering, physics
• technical proficiency with CNCmachines, open-source 3D drawingsoftware, microcontrollers, and othermaker technologies
The i.d.Lab Facilitator is a 46-weekadministrative faculty position reporting to theDirector of Curricular Initiatives. ·
