Segment Overview:

Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its talented corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation – from concept initiation through installation – of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects. Imagineering is headquartered in Glendale, California, with affiliated offices and facilities in North Hollywood, California and Celebration, Florida; as well as satellite branches at every Disney Theme Park location around the world.

Department Overview:

The Show Electronic Engineering department team members perform Electronic Engineering activities related to attractions show and park/resort wide electronic systems. 

Responsibilities
  • Develop designs that provide seamless show presentation
  • Work under the guidance of a more senior department member on specific assignments such as:
    • Define Control System Requirements
    • Develop Specifications and Test Plans
    • Produce Electronic designs as required
    • Support Mock-ups and proof or concepts as needed
    • Support field installation
    • Provide Training and post opening support to resort

  • Understanding of electronic principles
  • Understanding of mechanical concepts
  • Software systems
  • Knowledge of computer, power, and communications theory
  • Schematic and assembly drawing reading
  • System Integration
  • Engineering Analysis & Simulation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to present technical concepts in a manner understandable by non-technical people is highly desired
  • Demonstrated hands-on project experience covering multiple qualifications listed above
  • Fabrication with rapid prototyping tools
  • Wireless & wired networking expertise
  • Robotics experience
Required Education
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or graduated within 6 months of the start date of this internship, in an accredited college/university, earning a degree majoring in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Entertainment Technology, Interactive & Theatrical Arts, or related field
Preferred Education
  • Engineer in Training Certificate

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months of the start date of the internship for which you are applying for OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. Note: Once you have completed one consecutive year of employment on a Disney internship or program, there must be a minimum 6 month gap before the start of a new internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; forDisneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are May 2015 through August 2015. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
