[JOB] Junior Front-End Web Developer / CMS Administrator, March of Dimes

The Junior Front-End Web Developer / CMS Administrator is an entry-level position, that will work with business and marketing stakeholders to develop and maintain the March of Dimes family of websites,,,,


This position will report to the Director of Digital Strategy & Production and will be mentored by our Front-End Web Developer / CMS Administrator. Primary responsibility will be to assist in the production, modification and maintenance of the March of Dimes family of websites.


Front-End responsibilities: Use front-end web technologies to transform designs and wireframes into mobile-responsive, interactive web pages. Adheres closely to foundation best practices and technical standards.


CMS Administrator responsibilities: To develop a deep understanding of our Content Management Solution, RedDot/OpenText, projects, templates, capabilities and limitations. Create CMS templates from fully-designed web pages.


This position will also work closely with other members of the Digital team including designers, content producers, quality assurance engineers and server-side developers. Responsibilities will include system troubleshooting, CMS system development and ongoing improvements and optimizations to these systems.

  • College graduate. Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) preferred with an emphasis in Front End web development.


Required Skills
  • Strong skills in front end web technology implementation using HTML5, CSS3, .NET, XML, XSL, Ajax, Responsive Media Queries, JQuery, JavaScript, and other web presentation technologies
  • Ability to take design mock-ups and user-flows and translate into working websites
  • Interest in and an eye for fine front-end/back-end details
  • Understanding of browser / client specific compatibility issues
  • Understanding of the fundamental benefits of various programming languages, so as to be able to suggest the use of the best technology to fit a particular application
  • Knowledgeable of client/server and internet systems architectures
  • Knowledge of responsive design methods and techniques
  • Knowledge and experience with data management, integration and services
  • Broad knowledge of internet protocols, best practices, and procedures to orchestrate and maintain web environments


Optional (but helpful) Skills
  • Experience with code repositories (SVN/GIT)
  • Knowledge of BrightCove video management solution
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems (RedDot)
  • Knowledge of iOS/Android App development
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics integration methods
  • Knowledgeable of social networking API’s and integration


Development & Delivery
  • Assists in front-end development support for web production operations (both day-to-day and long term)
  • Actively Identifies system deficiencies and proposes/implements solutions ranging from front-end user experience to employee stakeholder interface improvements


Technical Effort Management
  • Participates in technical solution discussions with team and articulates innovative new ideas, approaches and recommendations
  • Discovers, references & implements external Javascript libraries
  • Pioneers new methods for maintaining websites efficiently
  • Identifies technical risks throughout the software development lifecycle, raises concerns to digital team and suggests alternatives and solutions to meet project objectives

  • Provides accurate time estimates for projects
  • Contributes to defining technical and instructional documentation
  • Contributes to the company development standards in close collaboration with team
  • Keeps team members informed of emerging industry issues and trends
