Project Duration: Est. 3 Months Part Time
Application Requirements:
- Electrical Engineering background
- Examples of past hardware projects (student projects or hobby projects acceptable).
- Comfort building prototype devices, ranging from “proof of concept” test boards to mockups.
- Proficiency with 3D printing/modeling or other rapid prototyping methods strongly preferred.
- Experience with Bluetooth or other low-energy NFC protocols preferred.
Project Description:
Seeking a reasonably experienced electrical-engineer/desginer for design consultation and early prototyping work on Quest Marker, a “one bit communication” IoT device, along similar conceptual lines as Droplet. Responsibilities will include finalizing the design requirements (currently outlined on the Hardware Lean Canvas), constructing proof of concept test boards, outlining sizing and design requirements for a final version, and designing and managing mock-ups of the final version for further development. Hardware involved is very simple, but cost, size, and energy consumption are all significant concerns. Primary hardware challenge will not be attaining the required functionality (all of which is available off the shelf), but achieving the device’s minimal specifications with equally minimalist components and energy consumption.
