JOB: New Museum job opening for Online Manager

The New Museum seeks an Online Manager to be responsible for the coordination and management of all content on New Museum’s website and e-communications. The Online Manager works closely with the Editors and Graphic Designer and reports to the Director of Marketing and the Associate Director, Technology Initiatives. The position starts in late January. RESPONSIBILITIES Update and steward newmuseum.org Maintain a dynamic homepage that showcases highlights at the Museum. Liaise with each Museum department and update the content management system with current and relevant content (event pages, exhibition pages, visit page, etc.). Update media on the exhibition pages as it becomes available (including installation photographs, press releases, audio guides, video, social media content, etc.). Proofread and double check all updates to website. Work with the Museum’s digital agency to build on and improve the current website. Manage the New Museum MailChimp account Oversee all MailChimp use within the Museum including list and email campaign development. Gather content, design, and publish bimonthly e-newsletters; design and proof all department email campaigns. Develop and manage timelines for all e-communications (e-newsletters, e-vites, etc.). Grant appropriate access levels for staff across Museum departments and proofread all outgoing emails. Monitor statistics and share campaign reports as necessary; make recommendations for successful email campaigns. Create new email templates as necessary. Additional responsibilities Design and update lobby screens for current exhibitions and special events. Build digital strategies and content with the Press and Social Media Manager for the New Museum’s social media platforms. Develop and design one-off sites to support exhibitions. Update and customize Tumblr themes as necessary. Collect internal and external feedback on newmuseum.org and work with the Museum’s digital agency on improvements. Monitor analytics and make recommendations for generating site traffic. Manage Google AdWords account and Google Analytics. QUALIFICATIONS Required •Bachelor’s degree •Minimum 1–2 years of experience of various online platforms management •Strong HTML and CSS knowledge. Working knowledge of PHP required •Terminal and SSH knowledge, working knowledge of SVN and GIT •Strong knowledge of Mailchimp, familiarity with the API and 3rd party integrations desirable •Photoshop and Illustrator •Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail •The ability to prioritize and manage requests with various stakeholders •The ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline, work under pressure, and take initiative •Humor, niceness, and the ability to accept and manage feedback •A proficiency with internet culture and close familiarity with the tools and the landscape of the online world Preferred •Ability to design and implement QA A/B Testing scenarios •Knowledge of Amazon AWS, in particular cloudfront and S3 desirable •Video production and editing experience (Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere) •Excellent writing and proofreading skills •Knowledge of the contemporary art world •Candidates with who have worked in a contemporary art museum environment will be given preference
