SCULPTURECENTER
Media Internship
SculptureCenter is a not-for-profit arts institution dedicated to experimental and innovative
developments in contemporary sculpture. We are currently accepting internship applicants for
Summer 2016.
Internships are unpaid but school credit may be earned. We regularly host international interns with
strong language skills. Scheduling is flexible with an expected commitment of two days per week for
3 months. Working with a small staff in an open office environment, you will gain valuable insight
and hands on experience working for a non-profit art museum. Interns take on projects that have a
direct and visible outcome in our exhibitions, public programs, and events. You will also come away
with important professional skills for working in the field of contemporary art. All interns enjoy
complementary NewArtNetwork memberships after their internship.
The Media Intern works directly with the Associate Director and Operations Manager to generate
content for SculptureCenter’s online media presence. Primary responsibilities will be producing
video and web content, event photography, and updating social media as needed. Candidates
should be enthusiastic, self-directed, and interested in initiating media projects. Experience behind
a camera and editing video with Adobe Premiere required.
Qualified applicants will have professional written and oral communication, excellent organization,
and online research skills as well as basic familiarity with creative software, such as Photoshop,
InDesign, and Illustrator. All internships will include special dedicated events and NewArtNetwork
membership programming, attending gallery tours, artists’ studios, and special collections. Interns
should have a strong knowledge of and enthusiasm for contemporary art, enjoying visiting galleries
and museums in their free time. Prior museum or gallery experience preferred.
To apply please send a cover letter, resume, and two professional references to
internship@sculpture-center.org. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
