FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Humanities invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor to teach
courses in the New Media Technology A.A.S. program. Courses include Introduction to New Media,
Multimedia/Web Design, Web Animation and Interactivity, Internet Video, Game Design, and Web
Development and Design.
Student advisement, participate in curriculum and program development, committee participation, active
involvement in co-curricular media program activities, liaise with internship counselor, and ongoing
professional development are required. Shared responsibilities include department assignments including
administrative, supervisory, and other functions. The Assistant Professor of New Media Technology will work
with other departments in English, business and computer science to develop and improve track specializations
in the major. The specialized tracks include digital journalism, video game development, app development and
e-commerce.
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise.
The Associate in Applied Science degree in New Media Technology is designed to prepare students to enter
directly into the workplace or to further their educations by transferring to a B.S., B.F.A., or B.S. degree
program. The New Media Technology degree offers students the opportunity to learn skills such as web design,
web animation and interactivity, Internet video, and game design. Other required and elective courses place
those skills in the context of artistic traditions and values, introduce students to the wide range of career
opportunities in which they may apply their skills, and the social and ethical issues raised by new technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS
M.F.A., Master of Professional Studies, or equivalent terminal degree in digital media or related discipline.
Professional experience in fields such as game design, web design and development, animation and
interactivity, graphics and scripting, video capture, editing and compression, and/or significant creative
accomplishments in digital media also required.
Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to
cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
