JOB: NYU IT web publishing student consultant – student job

My team, which runs NYU IT’s WordPress service, Web Publishing, needs grad or undergrad students who are available for work/study hours so please inform any of them who are looking for campus work. We are most interested in students who are creative and motivated and also great communicators.

ROLE

NYU IT’s Instructional Media and Technology team is looking for a student specialist to work on the university-wide WordPress service, known as Web Publishing. This role is open to grad and undergrad students. The successful candidate will help us run the service by performing in such areas as instructional design, web design, technical support, usability testing, process documentation, and in-person trainings.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Know the ins and outs of the Web Publishing service (NYU’s WordPress environment)

– Work closely with NYU’s instructional technology staff to ensure the highest level service for our clients and stakeholders

– Become so familiar with our WordPress platform that you are able to write comprehensive and accurate support documentation

– Design and implement WordPress sites on a regular basis, plus test features that best fit teaching and learning use-cases

– Be ready to provide WordPress-related wizardry and general web-related creativity

– Test themes and plugins for security, functionality, compatibility and usability

 

REQUIREMENTS

– Strong understanding of Instructional Design principles and methods for implementation

– Competency with WordPress, HTML, CSS and principles of web design

– Familiarity with JavaScript and jQuery is a huge plus

– Knowledge of content management systems and databases is also a plus

– Technical support or customer service experience

– Ability to run trainings, communicate technical information clearly and make the boring stuff fun

– Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and PHP is a huge plus

– Excellent verbal and written communication skills

– Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities

– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision when necessary, then at other times collaborate well with team members

– Strong desire to combine technology with pedagogy!!!
