CALL: MTA Arts & Design opportunity – Lighting at Grand Central Station

We are reaching out to let you know about a great opportunity for artists to create permanent public artwork in lighting at Grand Central Station. The subway station at Grand Central Terminal is one of the busiest places in the nation and beyond. An ambitious re-design of the space is underway and artistic lighting is part of the plan to transform the station. The artwork will be integrated into the ceiling of the station’s main mezzanine.

We are hoping that you will share this opportunity with your network and any artists that you think would be interested in submitting their work for consideration and participating in the artist selection process.

The Call for Artists is attached for your reference. All artists interested in being considered must submit their credentials via our online submission platform. Please note that the Call is open until Wednesday, May 31st.

MTA Arts & Design encourages the use of mass transit in the metropolitan New York area by providing visual and performing arts in the transit environment. Our Percent for Art program is one of the world’s largest and most diverse collections of site-specific public art, with over 300 commissions by world-famous, mid-career and emerging artists.

Hopefully you will find this opportunity equally exciting, and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Best,

Tara Foster
