Site Reliability Engineer
This position combines both: creating a strategy and being hands on implementing critical enhancements to various aspects of IT systems. Located in NY Sotheby’s headquarters, position reports into Global head of Product development and Technology and will ensure that current IT stack and devops processes are modern, reliant and bulletproof. Responsibilities
Evaluate current systems and identify redundancies and unification opportunities
Prepare and run a full audit of internal infrastructure, solve critical and major issues after AWS audit of
current cloud infrastructure
Lead an initiative to move our resources to cloud
Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system
health.
Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for
changes that improve reliability and velocity.
Implement culture of proactive and sustainable incident response as well as blameless postmortems
Establish CI procedures and work closely will various development teams to ensure the best practices are
implemented
Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing
software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning and launch reviews.
Act as a Team Manager and lead current network group
Qualifications
BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or
mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design.
Experience in one or more of the following: Scala, Python, Ruby or Go
Experience in one or more of the following: AWS, Terraform, Datadog, Puppet.
Experience with Linux/Unix Administration
Interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting distributed systems.
Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of
ownership and drive.
Ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.
