Job Description:
At Will Media and IPO Education Foundation are seeking a new host for Season 2 of ‘Stroke of Genius’ a podcast exploring inventions, the inventors behind them, and the role that intellectual property plays in dreams becoming reality.
We are looking for a podcast host who is in or around the NYC area (or travels here often). We want to meet curious people who may fall into the following categories:
- Science Enthusiasts
- Inventors / Makers
- Entrepreneurs
- Teachers
- Tech Lovers
- IP Experts
Candidates will have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience conducting interviews. They should be comfortable exploring complicated topics and making them approachable to broad audiences. Experience in the classroom is appreciated, but not required. The host of the second season will work closely with the At Will Media production team to develop episode themes and write interview questions. We are looking for someone with an inquisitive spirit who knows how to put people at ease and offer a welcoming presence on the mic.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Hosting an 8 episode series on inventors
- Conducting interviews both in-person and remotely
- Proposing subjects and guests
- Recording scripted voiceover from our Manhattan studios
- Prepare for interviews, including reviewing research materials and writing additional questions
- Promoting show to your followers and sharing finished episodes and marketing materials across social platforms
Preferred Experience:
- Experience reporting and/or conducting interviews
- Ability to convey complicated information in creative ways
- Ability to serve as an audience surrogate and break down complex topics for podcast listeners
- Demonstrated experience working on camera or on mic
- Experience delivering scripted material
- Experience working with students
- Clear communicator with exceptional written and collaboration skills
This is a paid contract position, lasting about 3 months. The schedule is flexible, perfect for students, teachers, or freelancers.
