JOB: 5G EdTech Challenge, Associate Director

The Associate Director, 5G EdTech Program will discover and develop new technology applications and partnerships that demonstrate and explore the educational impact and benefits of the high bandwidth and low latency of 5G networks. The Associate Director will provide leadership and strategic direction for NYC Media Lab in its execution of the Verizon 5G EdTech Challenge program by co-designing and developing a new 5G curriculum, which will require synthesizing and consolidating curricula developed by EdTech Challenge teams. This position will build upon and scale the 5G EdTech Program that was developed and implemented in 2019. This position will manage and implement a series of events and product showcases with development teams as the program scales to partner with dozens of schools throughout the country, and help to administer a challenge grant program to drive prototyping of new applications. This position will execute a high volume of activities, and may include other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will feel comfortable with both organizing and facilitating events, as well as developing a curriculum for the extension of the Verizon 5G EdTech Challenge.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree

Master’s Degree

Required Experience:
5+ years

Preferred Experience:
7+ years

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong understanding of K-12 curriculum development & 5G, edge computing and applications of frontier technologies in education. Extensive project management experience with demonstrated ability to execute on a scope of work within set timelines. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong problem solving skills, comfort with networking and leading events. Outgoing personality, experience managing complex, collaborative projects with multiple stakeholders.
