Dear friends and colleagues,
I am writing as a Chair of the search committee for two full-time faculty positions (Assistant or Associate Professor, Graphic Design with a focus on typography, form-making, and design history and Assistant or Associate Professor, Graphic Design, with a focus on computation and digital practices) in the Graphic Design Department at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). We are currently in the process of soliciting applications for the position, which will commence in fall 2023.
The search committee is thankful for your potential outreach to candidates in your professional network whose experience in teaching, scholarship, professional practice, and service matches the specifications of the position and enables them to contribute to the Department’s commitment to excellence in the field.
RISD is committed to diversity and inclusivity and is particularly interested in candidates with a pedagogy and professional practice focused on non-western and historically marginalized groups and cultures.
Department Description: At RISD GD, we honor individuality as it grows out of a shared set of skills, methods, and texts. New tools and processes are considered alongside longstanding ways of making as equally viable options for human expression. With 13 full-time faculty and 25 part-time faculty, the Graphic Design Department offers 110 classes a year for approximately 200 BFA candidates, 40 MFA candidates, and a small number of non-major and Brown University students.
Full consideration date: Dec. 15, 2022
Sincerely,
Ramon Tejada
Committee Chair
