We are pleased to announce the Open Call for the Xu Bing Space Art Residency Program, an initiative led by artist Xu Bing as part of the Star Chain of Arts Project. Guided by the principles of participation and sharing, Xu Bing envisions this residency as a platform where artists from around the world, alongside practitioners from diverse fields, can access a satellite to create new works. The program seeks to integrate space technology with contemporary art, extend artistic imagination into broader realms, and collectively explore this highly futuristic field.
Participation in the program is free of charge.
Eligibility
- Open to individuals of any age, gender, and nationality
- Applications welcome from both individuals and groups
Artwork Requirements
- Proposals should explore how space art differs from terrestrial art
- Participants are encouraged to utilize the satellite and the unique conditions of outer space
- Each artist-in-residence may use satellite resources for 1–3 orbits
