INTERN: Micro Museum Archive Development Intern

Micro Museum is seeking an Intern to assist with Archive Development Job Description: Archive Development Intern 

Assist with the many different tasks associated with improving Micro Museum Archive such as: 

  • Scanning of books, photographs and documents. 
  • Research methods of recovering metadata from photographs and documents in archive using AI 
  • Building Shelves, Organization and shelving of Books in library 
  • Organize Digital Inventory consisting of Matching and copying files, identifying and labeling various digital assets such as photo,  video, audio, documents. Creating cross correlations of reference artwork by associating assets with timeline and physical inventory.  
  • Physical Inventory consisting of sorting Books, Artwork, DVDs and other objects, moving, unpacking and packing boxes, Scanning,  photographing or cataloging and labeling books and objects, recording provenance ie. Description, ISBN number, Quantity, SN,  Nameplate Data, etc. assigning asset reference and location into excel database using Micro Museum equipment.  
  • Ingest of tapes using Micro Museum equipment for tapes playback and ingest 
  • Restoring some old sculptures and then packing them properly to be placed in the physical archive. 

Candidate skills needed  

  • Good command of English 
  • Legible handwriting  
  • Able to use hand tools including label maker.  
  • Understand how to operate and connect media equipment 
  • Proficient with Mac Computer, Excel, Database and Web applications 
  • PC UNIX Linux a plus.  
  • Catalog items and confirm locations 
  • Carry objects up and down stairs 
  • Move, load and unload rolling carts 
  • Pack and unpack artwork and other items.  
  • Clean items as needed  
  • Photograph or Scan items as needed 
  • Ingest, Operate Video players and Digital Recorders 

Work Details  

  • One Course Credit Plus $500 Stipend 
  • 10 Sessions 5 hours each 1x/ week for 10 – 12 Weeks depending on scheduling 
  • $500 Stipend  
  • $20 per hour 25 hours 3-5 hrs per week for 5 – 9 Weeks depending on scheduling 
  • Flex Time possible  
  • Timing – Afternoons or Evenings – Fridays or Saturdays 
  • Start date will be late January or early February depending on schedules.
