Job Description:
The Studio of Jim Campbell – is seeking an organized, self-directed individual to manage the construction of custom electronic artworks and large-scale public installations. This position offers the opportunity to work in the field of electronic art with cutting edge technology in video, interactive electronics, & LED displays. Prior experience as a project manager and with electronic circuitry is a must, as is the ability to work with and lead a small production team. Please note that this is not an entry level position; electronics assembly in addition to project management experience is essential.

Jim Campbell was born in Chicago in 1956 and lives in San Francisco.  He received degrees in Mathematics and Engineering from MIT in 1978.  He transitioned from film making to interactive video installations in the mid 1980s. His custom electronic sculptures and installations have made him a leading figure in the use of computer technology as an art form.
Job responsibilities include:
*Project Management, including organization, work flow, quality control, & critical timelines to meet
deadlines for multiple projects
*Delegating tasks & overseeing their completion to keep both large & small scale projects on schedule
*Researching, ordering parts, reading schematics, CAD, creating technical drawings, troubleshooting
basic electronic circuits using an oscilloscope, soldering, etc.
*Certain projects will require the ability to work with outside institutions, vendors, contractors, & artisans
* National & international travel to oversee the installation of video and electronic based artworks

Ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
*Basic prototype fabrication (drill press, bench sander, power tools, etc.)
*Working knowledge of rapid-prototyping methods (designing a part for 3D printing, laser or CNC
cutting)
*Basic CAD/3D design skills (SolidWorks, 3ds Max, or Rhino)
*2D Design skills (Photoshop 7 or better, Illustrator, or Inkscape)
*Full understanding of digital imaging
*Some understanding of video technology
*Can speak Digikey, Mouser, McMaster, etc.
