Seeking Robotic Designer/Builder/Programmer
to collaborate in a new multimedia performance in NYC
MEI-BE Whatever is a multimedia dance company located in NYC. We create
mixed-discipline works that fuse contemporary dance with a variety of media,
including live/recorded video and soundscapes.
Candidate:
● Experienced robotic designer/builder/programmer.
● Familiar with digital technology and software: live video, sound, projection and
sensor technology
● Adroit sense of music and movement cues- and the space between
● Positive attitude, open-minded and detail oriented.
● Willing to invest in long-term collaboration.
Job requirement:
● Design and construct a mobile robotic pet that moves and interacts with
performers and audience.
● Communicate with video, sound and movement collaborators
● Work with choreographer to create choreography, which may require live
performance or teaching it to a technician.
Timing:
● Robotic construction: August 2012
● Rehearsals: mid September- November, 2012 (first workshop period)
● Participate in work-in-progress showcase in New York
● Rehearsals: January-February, 2012 (second workshop period)
● Performances: Work in progress at Culturemart Festival, HERE, NYC
Participants will be compensated and receive performance credit.
