Information for Life
This year, the IxDA Student Design Challenge invites you to explore how to help people to act on live-saving health information.
Every year, many children die of illnesses that could have been prevented with existing interventions. The Gates Foundation is working with the global public health community to help save children’s lives by gaining the trust of families and informing them about how to access effective interventions through the use of the child health record
The record is a critical component of current health information systems worldwide, containing immunization schedules and important guidelines for parents about child healthcare best practices. But, health organizations remain challenged by how to reach remote populations with this health information when the document is often issued at birth on paper, and when parents or children do not speak their country’s national language or cannot read.
How might we design ways to improve how families engage with the information on the Child Health Record?
How might we improve how it is distributed, accessed and used in order to make it a more effective tool for health information and education throughout childhood?
