I am writing with news of opportunity that may be of interest to you and your students/community. NYPL Labs has teamed up with Electric Objects to offer a residency to explore the creative possibilities of historical collections and the potential of the Electric Objects platform. For this residency, we are asking applicants to make use of materials from NYPL’s Lionel Pincus and Princess Firyal Map Division. At their disposal will be:– 20,000+ historical maps, atlases, and other geographic documents and/or
– 19th century city data (old NYC building footprints, addresses, residential & business info)The selected artist will receive a $500 stipend, an EO developer kit (valued at $400), dedicated work space at the Library (if they are located in New York city), and access to curators, librarians, and library technologists. Completed works will be hosted online by NYPL and exhibited on-site at 42nd Street on screens provided by partner Electric Objects.
