(apologies for the repost but . . .)
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to spread the word on the Greenfab internship I did last
spring. It’s teaching basic PComp (maybe up until week four, but you
should have some background already) to kids at an afterschool program
in the south bronx. If you have any interest in teaching and/or the
social relevance of equipping underserved students with cutting edge
tools, definitely get in touch with Marianne Petit. Greenfab is one
of the programs developing curriculum for the Fablab project that came
out of the MIT Media Lab – Last year it was in its infancy but there’s
some exciting stuff on the horizon for it. In addition to all this,
you might also have a chance to learn and instruct students on how to
use things as cool as laser cutters and milling machines.
The commitment is one day per week (Tues-Fri) and you’ll be assisting
one of the GreenFab teachers, eventually getting a chance to
contribute your own lessons and organize your own activities for
students.
Let me know if you have any questions, and get in touch with Marianne
about it ASAP!
