Senior Strategists for International Movement Team
Purpose Campaig=
ns is an international team based in New York that creates 21st century move=
ments. Our principals Jeremy Heimans and David Madden co-founded GetUp.org -=
an Australian online political movement that is now larger than all Austral=
ia’s political parties put together and Avaaz.org, the world’s largest onlin=
e political community with more than 3.5 million members (a partnership with=
MoveOn.org). Another principal, Douglas Atkin, is the author of The Culting=
of Brands, helped build cult brands like Jet Blue, and is a world-renowned =
expert on the psychology of belonging.
Purpose Campaigns is currently advising =
advocacy groups and progressive brands around the world and is also incubati=
ng new issue-based movements. We’re a new, unusual and evolving combin=
ation of an agency and a home for political and social entrepreneurship.&nbs=

Purpose=
Campaigns has advised GlobalZero.org – a new global campaign for a world wi=
thout nuclear weapons spearheaded by Richard Branson, Queen Noor, Jimmy Cart=
er and Mikhail Gorbachev; the 2007 presidential campaign of Segolene Royal, =
the first woman to win a major party nomination for President of France; the=
Australian and US labor movements and just launched a new global anti-cance=
r movement, LivestrongAction.org, for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, among =
others.
We’re now helping some of the world’s best known brands champion issu=
es and causes in exciting new ways that go much further than traditional CSR=
or tokenistic “1% of every product sold helps save the rainforests” drivel.=
We’re working on launching a ground-breaking transnational gay rights=
movement and on building mass consumer movements that help high-impact gree=
n products get to scale quickly.
We’re looking to expand our team. We hav=
e some immediate project-based work available, and we’re also looking for ne=
w full-time team members at varying levels of experience and seniority. =
;
Our idea=
l candidate is an experienced campaigner, social entrepreneur or agency type=

anies get their message out in entirely new ways.
Here are some of the qu=
alities we’re looking for:
— Brilliant online organizers, campaigners and strategists who=
have the ability to creatively apply that set of skills across different is=

e’re thinking about questions like how to build a mass consumer movement for=
electric cars — if you are too, we should talk.
— People who can combine high-level strateg=
y with tactical creativity — deploying online organizing, social media and =
content in innovative ways to build movements, not as ends in themselves
— People with demonstr=
ated experience building and managing partner or client relationships
— Experienced and well-or=
ganized team and project managers
— Experience in advertising/branding and marketing is a plus =

bility, foreign language skills, global policy expertise and global work exp=
erience are all a big plus
— Graphic design skills and sensibility are a plus – if you’re a sup=
er-talented, issue-savvy graphic designer, we may have a dedicated role avai=
lable
