Creative Technology Educators with Interest in Leadership – IMMEDIATE OPENING

The Quad Manhattan, (an educational center for gifted children with special needs), is searching for (2) instructors to join our group of educators and mentors to work within our TECH! programs.  Our strength-based philosophy pairs children with mentors and educators in their fields of passion, building on their successes to overcome challenges.  Classes currently offered include game design, physical computing, basic robotics and digital sound.  The positions are part-time, on a path with growth to leadership.  These positions are IDEAL for ITP alumni, as our hands-on approach to Technology is inspired by the ITP framework and curricula.  We feel that our unique approach can give these exceptional young individuals early exposure to the skills they might later use to become pioneers in the fields of engineering, programming, and interactive design.

Candidates MUST:
1.  Have strong physical computing / programming skills, as our children are QUITE advanced in these areas
2.  Have significant experience as an educator; young students with special needs experience a plus
3.  Be able to work with a (non-technical) co-teacher, who will facilitate classroom management and socialization goals, and with TECH interns.
4.  Possess the personal qualities of patience, flexibility, dependability, and empathy for our children
5.  Be able to independently create organized and appropriate curricula under the supervision of our Educational Director
6.  Be creative in helping to grow The Quad’s mission via hands-on Technology Programming
7.  Be skilled at communicating with, and supporting, the parents of our children
8.  MUST be able to work from 2:30-6 weekdays (and possibly some Saturdays)
