How Big Can You Think?
Are you fanatical about great user experience? Yahoo! Inc. is looking for a User Experience Design Manager to lead the design team for the Autos property. In this role you will collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, business development resources and engineers to drive the design strategy for our Yahoo! Autos property. This is one of the most successful properties in Yahoo’s Media Division with a fully staffed design team. Autos is currently working on redesigning our core platforms as well as developing new products for our customers.

Responsibilities and Expectations for Design Manager
– Manage a team of highly motivated, effective designers and mentor them about design principles, standards, and best practices
– Assist in prioritizing design deliverables across multiple projects; manage project schedule and resource planning and allocation
– Provide a clear and cohesive design vision with effective communication of that vision to the design team
– Conduct critiques and provide direction to design team on their work
– Work closely with product management, business development, advertising, design and engineering leads to execute the design strategy
– Advocate for the user to ensure the highest quality user experience
– Determine and manage user research plan
– Incorporate user research and usability findings into the product roadmap

Qualifications:
– Passionate about design, possessing excellent core design skills; able to produce storyboards, mood boards, wireframes, scenarios, and design prototypes to help define customer-centric design strategy
– Must possess excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal) and relationship-building skills
– 5-7+ years in design for web-based products/services
– 1-2+ years as a people manager
– Strong understanding of online advertising platforms and advertising-driven, web-based businesses
– High tolerance for office tomfoolery
