Position Overview
The Information Systems Manager will be responsible for driving and implementing Education Pioneer’s technology, information, and systems strategy to advance our four core priorities of 1) building a thriving and sustainable institution; 2) championing the effective use of data across the education sector; 3) strategically connecting leaders and key organizations to accelerate solutions for the education sector; and 4) attracting and preparing our nation’s most promising leaders to build impactful careers in education. This role will work on the Finance and Operations team and will report directly to the VP, Finance and Operations.
Responsibilities
Partner with organization-wide staff to identify solutions that translate business processes in technology solutions
• Become an expert on all aspects of current information and technology systems, with a focus on Salesforce and identify and execute opportunities for data streamlining and system automation (developing workflows, writing basic apex code and formulas)
• Project manage systems related initiatives:
– conduct business and technical needs assessments
– partner with EP staff to develop functional requirements of software tools
– research and recommend new applications
• Manage technical implementation with support from outside consultants as needed
Evaluate effectiveness of technology solutions and develop data driven recommendations and improvement plans
• Collect and analyze data to inform organization wide technology and systems strategy
• Develop goals related to efficiency, effectiveness, and utilization of systems and monitor progress toward meeting these goals
Ensure coordination of technology systems to support overarching systems and data strategy
• Contribute to short- and long-term technology strategy
• Manage external vendors as necessary to implement systems
• Ensure technology systems and practices support organization wide systems strategy and goals
Build technical aptitude across the organization
• Develop and deliver staff trainings and provide ongoing support to maximize usage and utility
• Identify opportunities to enhance capacity of staff through utilization of technology solutions
Example tasks
• Review all systems that feed/extract data from CRM system to create a road-map to streamline, consolidate, and expand current uses
• Refine recruiting systems – research and implement efficient survey/data capture system utilizing lookup and pick-list fields
• Development systems work – determine improvements in reporting and data management; determine efficiencies in management of multi-site and/or multi-installment donations
• Actively contribute to our partnership with the Broad Center on the online community and knowledge management system project
• Research and implement a new financial tracking system
• Integration of financial tracking system with current CRM system to streamline invoicing practices
Skill-set Requirements
• Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal abilities to manage business expectations with cross-functional teams, express complex technical concepts both verbally and in writing, and work with non-technical colleagues
• Data-driven analysis. Driven to discover data anomalies and understand their business implications. Ability to simultaneously focus on details while keeping perspective on larger-scale data characteristics.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new areas of knowledge and systems from both business and technical perspectives
• Highly organized, strong time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work independently.
• Ability to research complex problems and develop cost effective solutions; strong analytical skills
Experience and Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree (major or minor) in technical/scientific field (e.g. Computer Science, EECS, Applied Mathematics, Physics, etc.)
• Experience with Salesforce.
